ALL 3rd GRADERS PARENTS:
Please know that the Third and Fourth Grade chorus is an extracurricular activity and occurs before school begins. Please do not drop off earlier than 7:05. There are not staff members available in carpool until 7:30 to assist students in the carpool line.

3rd Grade Math Program:
ALL third grade math students are covering the same math curriculum during the year. Questioning techniques, extension activities, and critical thinking exercises will be part of the curriculum in each classroom. Each student is unique and requires instructional strategies to meet his/her individual needs. Placement decisions are made with the best interests of each child in mind. The administration and teachers review each student’s math performance from last year, test scores, and the pace at which the student is able to master the standards when making placement decisions. Each student will be supported in learning at the highest level possible for that student. Third grade students are working hard in math. We are currently completing our review of second grade math skills and will begin Unit 1 next week. After students are assessed on the material from Unit 1, data will be collected and reviewed. If it is determined that a student would benefit from a different math class placement, movement will be made prior to beginning Unit 2 and parents will be contacted.
Late Pickup from carpool:
In keeping with the policies as outlined by the administration, if any student is not picked up in carpool, they must either go to Study Hall if in middle school or they must go to ASC if in lower school. They MUST go to their assigned locations, not waiting in the office. If they need to come to the front office to make a phone call, the teacher must stay with them until it is determined that they need to go to ASC or may wait with them until their parent picks them up. Due to office responsibilities in the front office, the front desk is not able to supervise students until a ride picks them up, nor are they able to verify that the authorized people are picking them up.
A note for ALL families and guests:
The students and staff in the Mulkey Building are enjoying the newly painted walls and murals. More than ever, Mount Paran conveys the warmth and openness of home. We want our Mount Paran family to know that they are welcome to stop by the Mulkey building when needed; however, they must enter through the main office and check in with Front Desk. The back entrance by the mural is for student use only. All visitors, including parents, need to go through the front offices. Doing so allows our students to enjoy a safe and efficient transition between classes, as well as a quiet, structured learning environment throughout the day. Thank you for your part in maintaining a comfortable atmosphere for all of our teachers, students and staff.
Parents:
Please email your child’s homeroom teacher THE MORNING you need to check your child out early stating the checkout time. The teacher will email you back the location your child will be at during the time you need him/her. Please state the location to the front desk attendant when you check your child out, so that she can have the correct location to call to check your child out in a timely manner.
We will do our very best to have your child ready and sent to the office for pick up on those days, but sometimes the classroom instruction gets so busy we might miss the time. Again, we will do our VERY best but sometimes activities get so involved that the teacher might have to rely on the front desk person to call your child out for check out.
